04 Feb 5 Easy Upgrades that Will Make Your Home More Pet Friendly
If you have furry friends, you firmly believe that your house is their home, and their comfort is a top priority. You don’t want to cut corners when it comes to their safety and well-being. With a little creativity, you can make it possible for them to live their best life. Simple household hacks can turn challenges into success stories. All you have to do is be a little creative in how you think.
1. Hidden Toy Areas
Your pet’s toys can be a chaotic sight if you just toss them into a basket and place them in a corner. There are several things you can do to keep your pet’s toys out of sight when they are not being played with. Put your pet’s toys in a basket, but place them someplace inconspicuous, like under a rack or beneath a window seat. If you have a large entertainment center, place it on one of the bottom shelves.
2. Out of the Way Crates
Many pets are used to crates and kenneling. While this is beneficial for all involved, large wire or plastic crates can be unsightly. Crates can be placed in out of the way spaces like under stairways or in rarely used closets. Pull them out at night or whenever your pet will be spending time in them. For the rest of the day while your pet is out and about, they can be neatly tucked away out of sight.
3. Disguised Litter Boxes
Litter boxes are often placed out of sight but rarely out of smell. Place them in areas away from the kitchen, like the laundry room or under the stairs. Put an air freshener nearby to help conceal the tell-tale odor, if there is any. Your cats will like the privacy, and you will not have to worry about it sticking out like a sore thumb.
4. Easy to Use Built-in Beds
It’s a fact that when we go to bed, our pets often try to follow. Build a small platform bed next to yours so that your pet is in his own sleeping area. This allows them to be as comfortable as possible and close enough to you so that they won’t keep trying to crawl into your bed. This is ideal for older pets who may not be able to jump or climb like they used to.
5. Customized Feeding Area
Many pets are picky about their feeding area. Some prefer metal or glass bowls while others may want their dishes elevated. Once you have determined what your pet prefers, build a customized feeding area where they can feel comfortable during mealtimes. Less stress means better digestion and a much healthier pet.
